Iodide is a vital element for the health and development of soft tissues in invertebrates such as gorgonians and sarcophytons. It plays a crucial role in the formation of pigments in corals, corallimorpharia, and anemones, enhancing the golden brown hues of zooxanthellae as well as the green and red tones of accessory pigments.
Unlike most iodide supplements on the market, which are simply potassium iodide and tend to convert into unstable and harmful forms like elemental iodine and iodate, this formula offers a naturally stabilized potassium iodide source specifically designed for reef aquaria. This proprietary stabilization process ensures iodide remains stable and bioavailable, preventing conversion to toxic free iodine during storage or within reef conditions.
With a highly concentrated strength of 10,000 mg/L, this supplement effectively restores and maintains iodide levels comparable to those found in natural seawater. Precision dosing is made easy with the included pipette, which holds 1 mL when filled to the base of the bulb.
Directions
Use the included pipette for dosing. Filled to the base of the bulb, the pipette holds 1 mL.
Use 1 mL for every 100 L (25 US gallons) every day to raise iodide by 0.10 mg/L. If necessary, adjust amount added so that iodide reads 0.06 – 0.08 mg/L six to twelve hours after the last dose. Thereafter, use this new amount daily and check iodide once a week.
