The Drillco 1000C series reduced-shank drill bit is made from cobalt steel with a black and gold oxide finish and has a 118-degree split point for drilling tough, high-tensile strength metals. The reduced shank drill bit, also called a Silver and Deming drill bit, has a shank that is smaller in diameter than its shaft, permitting drilling with a 1/2" drill chuck. Cobalt steel provides extended tool life compared to high-speed steel drill bits, and maintains the tool's toughness and hardness in high drilling temperatures. The combined black and gold oxide finish resists corrosion and increases the hardness of the drill bit for additional wear resistance. The self-centering 118-degree split point penetrates hard material without a pilot hole. The round shank accommodates most drill chucks.
